Fender Banjo Serial Numbers
Posted By admin On 29.09.19Aug 20, 2013. 1910 is my banjo. I bought it in an auction a few years ago. Since Fender 'serial numbers' are meaningless, I had to guess at the mfg date. I went with 'late sixties' because of the slim neck and ball-top reso screws. I bought a new artist in 1973 that also had the slim neck, but it had the knurled screws. Find out exactly when your instrument or amplifier was manufactured. Squier Company manufactured strings for violins, banjos, and guitars. It was established in 1890 by Victor Carroll Squier in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Seboam, According to your serial number I'm pretty sure your Squier was made in the Yako China plant sometime in '08 (as indicated by the first 2 numbers in the serial). I believe all the other numbers mean are the production number that it came off the assembly line. Also the Affinity series is supposed to be better model with better pickups than the bullett series. I am new to Squiers also so if any of this information is false I apologize, but it is true according to the online sources that I have read. If I am wrong hopefully someone will correct me.
If you have any questions feel free to ask here. What little time I've been on here this seems to be a great forum, there are plenty of people willing to help and usually someone always has the answer you're looking for. Good luck with your Squier, Bill.
I was looking at a squier affinity strat made in Indonesia, sunburst body with rosewood fret board and late 60's/70's style headstock, today in a store serial no. S/N IC050339299, from the spec sheets and this forum it would seem that this squire is 'Start Playing' Special Cort (from the letters IC) made in 2005 (from 05). From the serial no. It appears to have been part of a start playing pack is this possible? And was it made in 2005? It was for sale as new and on its own! The action was high and switch in position one didn't produce sound through the amp, guy in shop said that he'd fix them prior to selling.
I was thinking of buying it, any advice?
