Posted By admin On 20.08.19Most of us know how the costs involved on the PT6A engines can be when it comes to maintenance, overhauls, etc., especially on the older or higher-time engines that are used on aircraft which no longer have an appraisal value. This all affects how to justify the expense of the required overhaul at 3600 hours (or 4100 hours on some engines). Many of these engines are still in great condition, and that is even harder to justify the expense of an overhaul in some cases. MORE Company, Inc. On August 2, 2007 MORE Company received a letter from the FAA which states, “Aircraft operators wishing to utilize the concept embodied in the MORE program to create their own inspection program must submit their requests to do so to their local Flight Standards District Office or their Principal Maintenance Inspector for approval.
After FSDO/PMI approval, they may be added to air carrier Operations Specifications as an Approved Aircraft Maintenance Program (AAIP).” On September 10, 2007, an FAA Memorandum was circulated to all FSDO’s to address the denial of the MORE STC Application for the PT6A-60 series engines. The Memo states: “We have determined that this new maintenance supplement embodies the same maintenance concept contained in the MORE Company manuals that were previously approved by the Engine Certification Office through STC’s and that it is technically acceptable as the foundation for an engine inspection program.

Additional engines may be added to the contract (which gives the operator permission to use the MORE Company US Patent for a particular engine serial number(s)) at the cost of $10,000.00 per engine. If for some reason the approval is not granted, we will refund your money except $1,000.00 per engine. The end result will be that an operation will have their own approved maintenance program, available for use on each PT6A-60 series engine listed in the contract. At the present time, we have been successful with FAA Approvals on aircraft based in US Puerto Rico, Illinois, and Maryland. In foreign countries, the IFCA has been approved for customers located in Peru and Guatemala.

If an aircraft transfers ownership, the MORE STC’s are easily transferable. There is a transfer form, a fee, and MORE issues a new Certificate giving the new owner permission to use the MORE Company STC- required by FAA N8110.69. On the MORE Company website, there is a list of maintenance facilities that have knowledge of the MORE STC’s. If there is a facility that is not on there and would like to be, please contact MORE.
