It looks like Modo accepts FBX. I didn't see that it is a plug-in. So, is it Max-free?Yo, I export mainly using DXF but FBX works as well with the exception that when importing to modo, you have to rotate the model in modo by 90 degrees.

DXF comes in good to go. The only thing to remember that you need to set Revit DXF export units at metres, because the default system unit for imports in modo is metres for some reason. The thing most people wouldl not like is that Revit to modo is a one way street. This will prevent many even looking that way but technically, apart from this relevant and perhaps deal breaker factor for many, you import your Revit model and immediately assign presets or custom mats/colours whatever as you choose, with ease and most of the useful set up can be done like this quite fast. To get the top end result you have to become fluid with the application however the top end results, are well more than Bunkspeed Shot or Octane can yield due to basic functionality for a start. I don't really want to get in to too much of an example war with the loads of apps out there - most of which are fantastic in their own right, as its a Revit forum I know, but the attached image was done with little more set up than a few colours and using one spotlight, coloured as is and using some volumetrics for this spotlight. Its part of a series of tests, experimentations and learning of modo using (Revit geometry direct exported) my daughters clubhouse / playhouse and a couple of other Revit projects for hard geometry.

I am only intending to learn enough for animations using various camera rigging techniques / effects like camera a roll, shake, pitch / yaw etc. And normal simple animation of a subject and parts thereof. The workflow for rendering only, is at odds with Indigo Render where it seems Alex is indicating you are able to iterate while rendering or at least, be able to use your Revit materials and carry on. That is a pretty cool thing but I still cannot animate jack in Revit.

Trombe iterate. Oh, I found it. Does is seem odd that Revit exports, but doesn't import, FBX?

So, if you made something in Modo, or Max for that matter, you can't get it back into Revit directly.he he.Max will be there soon enough I bet, but you won't get other applications that easy as its not owned by the proprietor.this is such a contrast to Cinema 4D and modo for example where they play really well with loads of the industry players so Lightwave, Maya, Softimage Xsi, Renderman, Max, C4D and so on, can move between each other well. From what I can glean, that is exactly how they all seem to work - with a raft of applications. Either way, there is enough there to help out no worries!! Running 64 bit with version2011.

Installed indigo. Indigo doesn't support 'perspective render'.

What the hell. So what's the point of rendering if you can't render camera views? Has anyone had any success? I know indigo is great and possibly better than v-ray but their documentation is hugely non-existant and poorly put together. If you have a problem about this I really think you should seek clarification from Glare Technologies who make Indigo for Revit. I appreciate it is good for the forum to know but does not guarantee a faster answer or solution. I would not rate Indigo near VRay at this time.

The output we have seen on galleries or around the traps, would seem to place Indigo close to a growing group of the Octane / Bunkspeed SHOT / KeyShot 2.1 / Lumion and so forth. All of these are in rapid development now.

For me, VRay is still in a class above with Fryrender, Arion, Maxwell, Mental Ray, (commercial implementations), Cinema 4D, modo, Lightwave etc. I would be happy for Indigo to continue to develop as it is made in my home town and I love to see kiwis doing well.
